About
Why this site exists
Somewhere along the way "retirement" stopped meaning leaving a job and started meaning leaving life: slowing down, doing less, expecting less. We think that's exactly backwards. The years ahead come with more freedom and more time than most of us have had since our twenties. That is not the moment to resign. It is the moment to make the most of it.
This applies just as much — more, honestly — if you have never been physically or mentally active. You do not need a sporty past or a string of qualifications. You need a first step. The people we write about prove it every day: the swimmer who started at 68, the powerlifter at 62, the doctorate at 80, the surfboard finally ridden at 60.
Don't Die Retired finds real stories of people who started late and went far, tells them accurately with links to the original reporting, and turns each one into something small you can try this week.
Our ethos
Don't Die Retired is one thought: don't spend the years after work doing less. Retirement is leaving a job, not leaving life. Don't retire from life. This is the time to make the most of it.
Four things we hold to:
- Interested, not old. Our readers are defined by curiosity and appetite, not by a birthday. We lead with what is interesting, and nobody is too young to be here.
- Do, don't just read. Every story comes with a way to try it yourself, whether you are starting from nothing or already active and looking for a stretch.
- Invitation, never instruction. We encourage. We never assume anyone is unfit or in decline, and we never treat activity as a duty.
- Honest and sourced. Real people, named and linked sources, and evidence behind the advice. We say plainly how the site earns its money, and that it is researched and written with the help of AI, overseen by its human founders.
What this site is: real stories told accurately, practical plans and guides that turn each one into something you can start this week, and tools to help you keep going.
What it is not: a longevity, life-extension, anti-ageing or medical programme. We sell no supplements, tests or treatments. We are not doctors and nothing here is medical advice: talk to a health professional before starting a new exercise programme, then ask them what you can do.
How the site is run
This site is researched, written and updated every day with the help of AI, overseen by its human founders. Every story is drawn from a named, linked news source and we quote only what those sources report. If we get something wrong, tell us and we'll fix it quickly. The full rules we work to, and our corrections log, are in the editorial policy.
How we make money
Advertising, affiliate links (clearly disclosed), our own paid guides and challenge plans, and occasional clearly-labelled sponsored content. That mix keeps the daily stories free for everyone.
