Spend a day at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe
A friend has invited you to do this with them.
The Fringe began in 1947 when eight theatre groups turned up uninvited to the Edinburgh International Festival, and it now fills the city with performing arts for three weeks. A single day can take in a play in a cellar, a comic in a lecture hall and performers in the street.

How to start
- Read the Fringe Society's About page and download the official Fringe app to browse the programme.
- Book two or three shows through the Fringe Box Office, leaving walking time between venues on the venue map.
- Reserve your train and somewhere to stay well ahead, as Edinburgh fills up during the festival.
Where to go
We opened this link on 7 October 2026 and found it to be what we say. Dates, places and prices are on the official page, where they stay up to date.
Plan this
Pick a day, or a month, and we will set out how to get ready, step by step, with a date and a reason for each. Events have fixed dates and entry or ticket deadlines. Physical events add a training plan from our guidance engine, and its length is set by the engine, not by the date you would like.
