Make your first edit to Wikipedia
A friend has invited you to do this with them.
Wikipedia is written by volunteers, and anyone can correct or improve an article. Wikimedia UK advises newcomers to resist creating a new article straight away and to start small, by copyediting, expanding a short stub or adding a reference from a book they own.

How to start
- Read Wikimedia UK's guide for new editors and Wikipedia's own Getting Started page and Five Pillars.
- Pick an article on a subject you know and add one fact with a reference to a reliable source.
- Ask at the Teahouse, Wikipedia's message board for newcomers' questions, if you get stuck.
Where to go
- Wikimedia UK guide, "So you've decided to become a Wikipedia editor" (UK chapter of the Wikimedia movement)
- Wikimedia UK, "Get involved" (events and training for editors) UK
