Hike Shenandoah National Park with your dog
A friend has invited you to do this with them.
Shenandoah is one of the few national parks that allow pets on most of its trails, so you and your dog can share Blue Ridge views together. Its pets pages also cover the National Park Service B.A.R.K. Ranger programme for dogs.

How to start
- Read the Pets page on the Shenandoah National Park site, including the short list of trails where pets are not allowed.
- Pick a trail that suits your dog's fitness as well as yours.
- Keep your dog on a leash no longer than 6 feet (1.8m) and bag its waste.
Where to go
We opened this link on 4 November 2026 and found it to be what we say. Dates, places and prices are on the official page, where they stay up to date.
Plan this
Pick a day, or a month, and we will set out how to get ready, step by step, with a date and a reason for each. The hard part of a day out is the timing: the right season, tickets and getting there. The plan watches the calendar for you.
