Help plant or tend a community orchard
A friend has invited you to do this with them.
A community orchard is a patch of shared ground planted with fruit trees and looked after by the people who live near it. The Orchard Project, a national charity, wants everyone in the UK's towns and cities to live within walking distance of one.

How to start
- Visit The Orchard Project's community pages to look for orchards and events near you.
- Turn up to a planting, pruning or harvest day and ask who coordinates the volunteers.
- Read the charity's guides and advice pages before you prune or plant a tree on your own.
Where to go
We opened this link on 7 October 2026 and found it to be what we say. Dates, places and prices are on the official page, where they stay up to date.
Plan this
Pick a day, or a month, and we will set out how to get ready, step by step, with a date and a reason for each. Projects run over months and stall without a rhythm, so the plan sets milestones you can see.
