Walk the Towpath Trail through Cuyahoga Valley with your dog
A friend has invited you to do this with them.
Cuyahoga Valley National Park, between Cleveland and Akron in Ohio, welcomes leashed pets on over 100 miles of hiking trails and on the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Flat and well surfaced, the towpath lets you build up a regular dog walk, section by section.

How to start
- Read the Pets page on the Cuyahoga Valley National Park site, which says where pets are and are not allowed.
- Start with a short stretch of the Towpath Trail and turn back halfway.
- Add a new section each week until you have walked the length of the park.
Where to go
We opened this link on 4 November 2026 and found it to be what we say. Dates, places and prices are on the official page, where they stay up to date.
Plan this
Pick a day, or a month, and we will set out how to get ready, step by step, with a date and a reason for each. A habit needs a fixed slot in the week more than a plan, so the planner gives it one and checks in gently.
