Take a first set of golf lessons

Golf is unusual in that the ball sits motionless and waits, which makes a poor shot entirely your own work and a clean one deeply satisfying. A short run of lessons with a professional covers grip, stance and swing, and the etiquette that lets you share a course.

How to start

  1. Read England Golf's Get started with golf page, or search the PGA of America's Find Golf Lessons page for an intro lesson or beginner clinic.
  2. Book a block of beginner lessons with a PGA professional and ask to borrow clubs rather than buying a set.
  3. Practise between lessons at a driving range with a single mid-iron.
