Walk rescue dogs at a Dogs Trust rehoming centre
A friend has invited you to do this with them.
Dogs Trust lists dog walker among its volunteer roles at its rehoming centres, alongside gardening and fostering. A regular walk gets a dog out of kennels for a while and gets you out of the house with a companion who is glad you came.

How to start
- Read the volunteering pages on the Dogs Trust site and find your nearest rehoming centre.
- Apply for a dog-walking role; expect an informal interview and a check of your ID and address.
- Bring sturdy boots or wellies, and agree a regular slot with the centre.
Where to go
We opened this link on 4 November 2026 and found it to be what we say. Dates, places and prices are on the official page, where they stay up to date.
Plan this
Pick a day, or a month, and we will set out how to get ready, step by step, with a date and a reason for each. A habit needs a fixed slot in the week more than a plan, so the planner gives it one and checks in gently.
