The W Trek takes you through the granite towers, glaciers and lakes of Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia. It needs reservations; if you only have a day, the walk to the base of the towers does not.

How to start

  1. Read the park's 2026 travel advice and its reservation system page, and book your nights on the W first.
  2. Pack for rain, wind and snow in one day, with three layers and good waterproofs.
  3. Register at every ranger station on the way, as the trails have no phone signal.
