Take a kitesurfing lesson
A friend has invited you to do this with them.
Flying a power kite on a beach teaches you to read the wind in a way few other sports do. A first lesson covers kite control and safety on the sand before you go near a board.

How to start
- Contact British Kitesports or look up an IKO centre to find a recognised school near a beach you can reach.
- Book a beginner lesson and ask what kit and wetsuit the school provides.
- Keep a second date free, as lessons move when the wind does not cooperate.
Where to go
We opened these links on 6 October 2026 and found them to be what we say. Dates, places and prices are on the official page, where they stay up to date.
Plan this
Pick a day, or a month, and we will set out how to get ready, step by step, with a date and a reason for each. Courses and classes have start dates and can fill up, so the plan begins with finding and booking one. Kit comes after the first session, once you know what you need.
