Walk 1,000 miles in a year
A friend has invited you to do this with them.
A thousand miles sounds like an expedition, yet spread across a year it works out at a little under three miles a day. The Walk 1000 Miles challenge is free to join and leaves it to you how you record your miles.

How to start
- Sign up on the official Walk 1000 Miles site.
- Decide how you will log your miles, whether on a phone app, a watch or a paper chart on the fridge.
- Work out a weekly mileage that gets you to 1,000 and plan a regular route that covers a day's share.
Where to go
We opened this link on 8 October 2026 and found it to be what we say. Dates, places and prices are on the official page, where they stay up to date.
Plan this
Pick a day, or a month, and we will set out how to get ready, step by step, with a date and a reason for each. Projects run over months and stall without a rhythm, so the plan sets milestones you can see.
